There’s no excuse for such behavior between creatives. I won’t reiterate the name of the blog, or person here again, I hope they have already garnered enough negative attention to stall the errant behavior, rather I would…
First, I appreciate Leonard taking the time to discuss this very serious issue in our community, but, I feel the need to reiterate once more what this topic is actually all about.
In this case, Cyber Bullying has absolutely nothing to do with art, or photography or creative differences or sensitive natures. This is about bullying a member of this community with the intent to inflict mental pain on the victim. The bully is using the internet, as a means to harass, embarrass and destroy the victim’s name and reputation, while making the victim feel as bad and as helpless as possible.
"If we periodically offend each other inadvertently, we need to understand that this is a natural part of the creative process, and no retaliation should happen as a result."
Make no mistake, the bully is in no way “inadvertently” “offending” the victim…the acts by the bully are intentionally committed and is meant to inflict pain and suffering on the victim.
Retaliation absolutely must be taken. Please keep in mind that I posted the message about Cyber Bullying about 24 hours ago. That’s just one day that folks have been aware that this is happening to a member of this community- one day for you all to reblog and discuss and try come to terms with what this is about. The victim has been dealing with this every day for months! Every single day for months now the victim has been harassed, impersonated, had blogs made to mimic her own with even porn-type GIFS on the blog, and her personal photos used on the blog…I’m not talking about her art photos…I’m talking that the bully has actually posted photos of the victim on the fake blog in an attempt to impersonate her and embarrass her and bully her! So please keep in mind that this is far more nefarious than a simple creative disagreement. This is not about creative differences! This situation is not about art or photography at all! This entire situation is about harassing, and bullying….to put it in other terms so that you can understand what the victim has been experiencing- the bully has been stalking the victim!
So please, folks, let’s keep the topic on what the subject is actually all about! By minimizing and reinterpreting what this situation is about, this undermines the seriousness of the bully’s destructive, dangerous, intentional and abusive behavior.
This is not about art. This is about abuse.
Looks like it was time for these open words. Those not affected have no idea about the extent of the harassment (I didn’t realize it) and how it feels to be on the “receiving end”.
I guess that most victims don’t speak up or have someone else making their case public. Does anybody know how many people in this community were bullied at all (there might be more than one bully, and I’m sure the number off unknown cases will be high)?
(As an aside I think we have to avoid letting this get into kind of a “witch hunt”. It would not be helpful in my regard.)
